I would like to take the time with this post to highlight some other Google Wave Bloggers that are available and offer excellent, quality posts of the highest standards. You won’t find any cut & paste posts on these sites or re-hashing or re-wording of similar stories that you have seen everywhere else. To the contrary, these sites are based on hands-on observations experienced by the developer with Google Wave.

So let’s get right to the list (in no particular order):

“On the top of the Wave“ – is a blog to inform, discuss and learn everything related to Google Wave. It is offered in both English and Spanish. It was created by the Kiwibcn team so they could share their knowledge and experience on creating themes, widgets and other wave-related stuff.

This is an excellent site that offers in-depth analysis on aspects of Google Wave that I don’t think you find anywhere else. In fact everything they write is based on their experience with Google Wave. Moreover, if you speak Spanish you should consider this site your primary Google Wave resource.

“Mastering Wave“ – is another bog site. They state their aim as envisioning all users enjoying their Internet journey with Google Wave!! I think we could agree that is a noble aim indeed. What they offer is a very insightful blog post related to their hands-on developmental efforts with Google Wave. They also give a weekly wrap-up of interesting stuff on the web regarding Google Wave. Great site that I visit daily and really enjoy.

“Blog of Small Things“ – is a blog, as described by the author, as a site about WordPress, WordPress themes, WordPress Hosting, Books, and more Web 2.0 stuff that I love. One of the Web 2.0 stuff he loves is Google Wave. So, along with WordPress info, I also get some interesting Web 2.0 information along with a healthy dose of Google Wave information. Great site and the author posts some really insightful information that you will surely appreciate.

“Waving The Shiny“ – is a site that has a grand vision. The entire purpose for this site is to both explore the possibilities of the Wave ideal and get into the guts of the system as it is presented by both Google’s “Official” Wave Service, and the WRS. So it’s going to have the following:

Forums: Yeah I know, not another forum, however I think it would be handy to have a place for people to talk to each other and discuss what happens on this site.

“How-tos”, Reviews and News: From time to time I’ll be posting articles and “how-tos” dealing with specific topics within the wave.

Books: I’m planning on using Drupals Book object type to develop two books on the Wave, the Google Wave Book and the Fedone Book. These will contain detailed examinations of each subject and will be constantly updated to deal with new material.

This site has a lot of promise. So far, the Fedone Book is complete and it is excellent. I suggest you add this site to your bookmarks and check in often to see how it progresses. If it only lives up to half of the promise it will be a great resource.

“How to Wave User and Developer Forum“ – This is a forum site that I believe is in German. Although there is a translator button that allows you to choose different languages. So, you can browse the forums in your native language. I think this could be a popular site for our European friends, which is why I have listed here. Good luck and I hope your forum is very successful.

Thus, five (5) sites that I think you may find very useful and informative. Three (3) blog sites and two(2) forums, one for Spanish and one for primarily German (but it seems to support other languages) folks. Hopefully you will find these as interesting as I did.

The picture you see below is my Wave account using the Tweety Robot. The Tweety Robot was something that was done by the initial Google Wave development team and shown at the I/O 09 presentation. At the time, however, it was not very secure.

Then since they “put together an OAuth library to extend the Java Robot API that allows for secure authentication using 3-legged OAuth. (See oauth.net for a detailed explanation of the authorization flow). - Google Wave Blog ”

[SinglePic not found]

I was originally going to couple this together with my wp-wave-shortcodes embed to show my Twitter account on my webpage. However, you have to add public@a.gwave.com as an address to your wave in order to use a wave on a public site which, in turn, would allow anybody with a wave account access to my Twitter Feed Wave.

So, instead I took a snapshot and hopefully in the future you will be able to do this without compromising your Twitter account security. However, the feature, even as it is now is extremely useful. You can be logged into your Wave account doing many things and also have your Twitter account running right beside you in another Frame. One less app required. One more thing integrated with everything else.

This would be an important feature for the future. Being able to import your Twitter Feed on your own without having to sign up with the spam-peddlers would be a great step in the right direction.

It turned out to be quite easy to embed a wave into WordPress. For one, there is a plugin called “wp-wave-shortcodes” that adds a little shortcode to the WordPress Post. You will see a little button that looks like the Wave symbol along the “Upload/Insert” line. So, go to your Plugins tab and search for that plugin then install it.

Once installed you then click on the shortcode icon and insert the WaveID you want to embed. You can get the WaveID by selecting a wave and then selecting Debug->Get Current Wave ID, you will find Debug in the top right hand corner of Wave, click on it and go down to Get Current Wave ID. It will return you something lick this Wave ID: “wavesandbox.com!w+YPlHGxn2%A”. The tricky part here is knowing that the WaveID is everything after the w+ and before the end quotes. That is the Wave ID you post past into the shortcode. I recommend sticking with the default setting for everything else.

That’s it. So long has you have a Wave Account & are logged in, you will see the Wave below and be able to take part in the conversation.
