Last night was our first Ottawa (NCR) Google Wave Developer’s Group meeting. It was, by any measure, a great success. We had a number of like minded folks getting together and sharing their ideas and excitement about the possibilities of Google Wave.
The meeting was hosted by The Code Factory and we would like to thank Ian for the great support he shown to our group as we get up and running. If you haven’t visited The Code Factory yet I highly recommend you check the site out. I’m quite sure that if you’re an IT minded folk you will find a group that interests you.
During our first meeting we all got introduced to each other quickly found that we were all very interested in working on a collective development project for Google Wave. We decided that we would get together the first Thursday of each month.
Some wave addresses were shared (so we can now talk with each other), some invites were given out and folks had great discussions about everything from building a FedOne Server to Java Development with Eclipse.
But, most importantly, we have decided to hold a Ottawa Google Wave Development Camp on the 21st of November. This will be a full Saturday developer camp with the aim of coming to a decision on one or two development products that will drive the group’s focus for the next little while.
We will be launching two new webpages very shortly. One titled “Ottawa Wave Group” and the other called “Ottawa Wave Camp”. One will be long term home for our group and the other will hold very specific info on our upcoming camp. Check back soon to get the updated links for those pages.
So, thanks to all who attended last night. Thanks to The Code Factory for hosting and we look forward to growing our group exponentially as word grows about the great folks involved.
